Disclosure: I was sent the Master Series Cock Shock for this review for free by Uberkinky and would like to thank them for the opportunity to put it through its paces.

Packaging:

The Master Series Cock Shock remote controlled cock ring comes packaged in a black and chrome-esque cardboard box. The front of the packaging has an open face showing the product that is housed within a moulded plastic case. The back of the package contains product info with some images (though seemingly out of date).

I really like the BDSM icon on the back of the packaging as well as the inclusion of “S.S.C” (safe, sane, consensual) which is a nice nod to the community that the product is aimed towards. That said, the packaging doesn’t offer much after opening so was disposed of.

The Master Series Cock Shock:

The Master Series Cock Shock remote controlled cock ring is a CBT trainer that is attached over the shaft and behind the balls via a velcro strap that is approximately ¾” wide and 8” long from end to end. The unit itself is made of ABS plastic approx 2.5” long, 1.3” deep and about 1” wide with two metal prongs protruding from it.

The unit is bulky as it houses two AAA batteries (not included) that power both the shock and the small motor for the vibrate function. The remote is powered by a 9V battery (included) and is also ABS plastic. It has an extendable antenna with a range of up to 80ft and there are 4 main buttons. These control the shock, vibrate, a small light on the remote and a button that emits a bird call. There is also and on and off switch as well as volume control on the side.

In Use:

I will be honest I was quite disappointed when I took the Master Series Cock Shock out of its box for a number of reasons. First and foremost was how flimsy the actual unit and control feel, I’ve seen ABS plastic used in countless toys without it feeling this cheaply made. Which is disappointing from a brand like Master Series – which is supposed to be more upmarket.

The next thing that disappointed me was the instructions that come on the provided leaflet – they suck. They explain how to put the batteries in and how to pair the control to the unit but that is it, nothing about the buttons or what they do. Generally I don’t read instructions because I’m a rebel and can figure most things out but still – not everyone likes to live on the edge as I do.

My final initial issue with the Master Series Cock Shock is that it comes with a 9V battery for the control but the 2 x AAA required for the unit are not supplied. Why the fuck not? This makes absolutely no sense at all, if you’re going to include batteries with your product – include all of them or none of them.

Pairing the control and the unit was easy enough, put in the batteries and while the light flashes on the unit press either the vibrate or shock button and you’re good to go? Well yes and no. As I had just finished a cup of tea it is mandatory that a fresh one is made and so I did. But upon returning to my desk found that the Cock Shock wouldn’t respond.

Was it broken? Had a I received a defective unit? No, no I had not. After a bit of searching this is apparently a feature. After three minutes of no use, it switches off. I would like to point out that this is the kind of stuff you include in your instructions! “But Justin, it’s cool just switch it back on? No big deal, right?” Wrong! You would think just switch off the control and switch it back on but nooooo, you have to take the batteries out of the unit and put them back in again.

You can avoid this cut-off by making sure that you press at least one of the four buttons within that three minutes and it will continue to work. But if you’re planning on having some sneaky fun in public or just having your submissive wear it for a prolonged period of time be prepared to be a little frustrated. If it doesn’t bother you, cool – would piss me off to no end.

Getting the unit on is easy and is designed to be placed around the top of the shaft and behind the balls. It’s not the most comfortable of the cock rings that I have used as the velcro digs in a little. However this is supposed to be for your submissive and used as a CBT trainer so comfort shouldn’t be a primary concern in my opinion.

On the control there are four functions, one makes a bird call and another shines a little light for use as audio cue or as a visual aid for your subby or puppy in training. The vibrate function delivers a moderate level rumble and will continue for as long as you have the button held down. Finally there is the shock button which delivers a potent and unpleasant sensation that really fucking hurts!

I’ve used a fair few electro sex toys and can use cock loops at maximum output on the powerboxes I have – this feels nothing like them at all. Where they can feel like a nice powerful vibration this feels more like how I imagine a taser feels, it is a powerful jolt that even my masochistic slave was fearful of – it hurts that much.

As with the vibration button you can hold the shock button down and it will provide a continuous shock that I’m certain even the hardest of submissives or CBT enthusiasts would be begging for mercy.

Conclusion:

Given that there are a lot of niggles that I have with this toy you would expect me to say that you shouldn’t buy it. But outside of the 3 minute cut-off which is an utter nuisance the rest may not bother many people as they do me. Most of the negative is really to do with company trying to not spend money to maximise profit though personally I find no excuse for the piss poor instructions.

But to be fair to the toy, it does what it sets out to do and it does it really well. Yes it’s fugly but does it have to be pretty? No. Does the shock hurt like a bitch? Yes. Is that what it’s supposed to do? Yes. Personally the Master Series Cock Shock will never be used on me again because it has no place in my D/s dynamic but I know plenty of Domme’s that would enjoy the hell out of using it.

Would I buy it at its £69.99 price tag? No, I don’t think it is high enough quality to justify it personally. But if you can pick it up in one of Uberkinky’s sales then it is a no fuss CBT trainer that is capable of providing a lot of entertainment. Particularly if you like seeing guys writhe around in pain.
